Reason for taking this Course


The CFPS certification (Certified Function Point Specialist) authorized by the IFPUG, internationally recognized, adds value to the curriculum of the professional and it is required by several companies as a prerequisite for the provision of services of Function Point Analysis (FPA).
Approval requirements are very serious, to be approved the candidate must correctly answer 90% of the questions of the three parts of the test, with maximum of 3 hours to answer all the questions.

From July 2008, the CFPS exam became automated (computer test) and managed by Prometric, providing greater flexibility in the cities in which the tests may be submitted on the dates chosen by the candidate.

The main Course Objective of this course is to offer the participant the conditions for success in the rigorous certification examination (CFPS) of IFPUG. This includes:

  • Prepare the participants for the Certification Function Points Specialist (CFPS)

The course does not replace the individual preparation of the candidate for testing, but it supports and complements the preparation process. The course participation in the course does not guarantee passing of the exam. Dedication is essential to take advantage of the coaching of the instructors during the preparation.

Method used


This course has been known as the most effective. For in-company groups, FATTO Software Consulting can combine online and in-person classes. In that case, meetings are scheduled after online classes to give to the student enough time to review activities related to the manual measurement practices (CPM).


These meetings do not replace all of the activities in the course. Classes are dedicated to develop, review and talk about simulated tests, being that the review and the discussion process is more important than the development. The interval between sessions allows the participant to have time to better understand the content of the previous class and study the issues on which their performance was not satisfactory in the simulations.

The course has an exclusive forum for the group, constantly monitored by various tutors. The forum allows for the student to interact with instructors anytime. In addition, interaction with the instructor can be on an individual basis (according to student needs) through e- mail, chat or phone. The focus of the course is based on the "Robinson" (EPL2R) method, which is a methodological process that consists of five stages: exploring, asking, reading, re-memorizing and reviewing.
The course explores the Measurement Practices Manual (test reference) in which each unit is deeply tested. After going through all units, the student will find several simulated exams, which mixes cases studies and explores concepts, rules, and case studies.
The best assessment tool to make sure that the student is ready to take the exam are the simulations results. Those students who are properly engaged, have a significant change in performance in each simulation test until they achieve a grade of 90 % in the allowed time frame.
Online classes gives flexibility and convenience of dates and times to the students. However, they need to have discipline to take advantage of the course. To help students, we offer a suggested course activities schedule. The dedication to the course may vary for each student, depending on their previous experience and knowledge. We suggest that they must dedicate at least 8 hours per week. The course has about 96 hours for developing the activities.


This dedication can be higher if reinforcing a concept is needed until the student has a proper assimilation of the content. If the course is not online, each class has 8 extra hours.
